“Homosexuality grows like monster in seminaries. Weed out homosexuals!”: Archbishop John Bonaventure Kwofie of Accra, Ghana, expressed concern about homosexuality within Catholic seminaries in West Africa. Speaking to rectors and formators on January 14, he said:
“I am going to talk about one thing that is growing like a monster in the seminaries. Please do your best to weed out people of such orientation from our seminaries, because it is not only an abomination to the priestly attitude but also makes the gift of celibacy not worth living. Papst fordert Kardinäle zur Zusammenarbeit auf
Papst Leo XIV. hat die Kardinäle ermahnt zusammenzuarbeiten, der Einheit der Kirche zu dienen und nicht spezielle Projekte und Agenden zu verfolgen. Er hatte zu einem außerordentlichen Konsistorium alle 245 Kardinäle der Weltkirche eingeladen. Anwesend waren laut Vatikan-Angaben 170 von ihnen.
Das „außerordentliche Konsistorium“, zu dem er sie nach Rom eingeladen hat, sei ein „Moment der Gnade“, in dem die „Einheit im Dienst der Kirche zum Ausdruck kommt“, erklärte er Dienstagfrüh in einer Predigt vor dem Kardinalskollegium im Petersdom.
