European bishops sidestep ‘Traditionis Custodes’, continuing traditional Latin Masses in parish churches without Vatican dispensation. Last week, the Dicastery for Divine Worship published all its decrees from 2025, including permissions for the 1962 Roman Missal in parish churches. The list shows permissions for 55 parishes in 33 dioceses. 41 of the parish-church locations in the 2025 decrees are in the United States - about 75%. France is conspicuously absent from the 2025 index despite its importance among Catholics. No parish church in Paris appears among the Dicastery’s published dispensations in 2023, 2024 or 2025. Obviously, there are Masses. In the Paris parish of Saint-Eugène–Sainte-Cécile, the old Mass has been celebrated since the 1980s and remains part of the daily and Sunday schedule. Peru tributes Leo XIV with the largest statue in the world. Standing 14 meters tall, the monument will rise in a seafront park in Callao overlooking the Pacific Ocean.
