Alphonse de Ratisbonne, a wealthy young Strasburg Jew was asked by a Catholic friend to accept and wear a Miraculous Medal. ~ In spite of his great aversion for everything Christian, Ratisbonne, to please his friend, not only promised to wear the Medal, but also to recite the "Memorare," although he added, "A Jew I was born and a Jew I shall die." ~ Four days later, while visiting a church in Rome, Our Lady appeared to him in all the glory and brilliancy of her Immaculate Purity.
