At some point the question came up and the representative of the bigger org questioned the veracity of the claim. So I had prepared and had the evidence printed, so I showed it to everybody to underpin my claim. Now there was silence for a minute. I did not understand, but I later learned that in diplomacy, presenting evidence to the counterparty is 'not done', because it embarasses. The meeting was directly over and it seems I messed the situation up. But now think for a second: If presenting true evidence in diplomatic setting is not pinning the evidence for everybody to align to the facts but it is perceived as undermining and insulting to the intelligence, then what can you do? What I learned is that confronting diplomats with facts is offensive.
So it is with this situation. We see facts and become angry they keep their eyes closed, and they see insults and offending statements and while being compromised to sides, they will have to please the compromise or loose ground.

but new wine into new skins is to be put, and both are preserved together.
