Mexican Bishop "Had Smiled" About his Predecessor's Concelebrating with Anglican Woman
Homosex activist Raúl Vera López, Bishop emeritus of Saltillo, Mexico, denied that the sacrilegious “concelebration” with the Anglican female preacher Emilie Teresa Smith on August 26 was sacrilegious.
In denial, he repeatedly told ElHeraldoDeSaltillo.mx: “It is not sacrilege, it is a lack of discipline, a disciplinary offence. It is not sacrilege, for God's sake, I was not going to commit sacrilege!”

Bishop Strickland: Hopes for Leo XIV Are Fading
The hope that Leo XIV would faithfully uphold the Deposit of Faith has already been tested and, sadly, diminished, Bishop Joseph Strickland told the London-based TheCatholicHerald.com on August 11. His arguments:
- Leo XIV has retained Cardinal Víctor Manuel Fernández at the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith – a man whose record includes undermining moral doctrine and approving documents that confuse the faithful on issues such as homosex "blessings".
- He has appointed bishops who openly support the ordination of women, contrary to the Church’s constant teaching.
- He has also maintained restrictions on the Traditional Latin Mass, depriving the faithful of a liturgy that formed countless saints.
- These are not small matters. They represent a continuation of the same pattern we saw under Pope Francis – tolerating, or even promoting, voices that contradict the faith, while sidelining those who speak it plainly.

Leo XIV Downplays Multiplication of Loaves As "Miracle of Sharing" - Just Like Francis
Today, Leo XIV sent a message to the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), writing about the 'multiplication of the loaves' in the Gospel:
"We realize that the real miracle performed by Christ was to show that the key to overcoming hunger lies in sharing rather than in greedily hoarding."
This statement seems to reflect the spirit of Pope Francis. On multiple occasions, including at the Angelus on 2 June 2013, Francis spoke about the multiplication of loaves: "This is the miracle: rather than multiplication, it is sharing, inspired by faith and prayer."

Francis' last interview before his hospitalisation was broadcast by 'Le Iene' on Tuesday 22 April on Italia 1.
In January, the Vatican's Tribunale della Penitenzieria Apostolica asked Italian actor Giovanni Scifoni to make a video for social media in preparation for Lent.
The project involved meeting people who had committed the usual very serious crimes, such as mafia killers and former drug addicts [but not abortionists or paedophiles].

France: Priest Beaten Up
On Saturday 22 February, at around 8.45am, a priest was violently attacked near the church of Saint-Eusèbe, in the centre of Auxerre, France.
He had just arrived to open the church and was in the Place Saint-Eusèbe, a few steps from the church.
The attack began with verbal insults from a person who lived in an apartment in rue Capitaine Coignet, opposite the church.
The aggressor complained about "noise" generated by the church and shouted hateful words at the priest, including "shitty religion" and "asshole".
The priest responded to these insults by saying 'Are you crazy?', which increased the offender's anger.
Moments later, the individual, accompanied by an accomplice, came down to the street and physically attacked the priest.
Although the victim tried to engage the criminals in conversation to understand the source of their animosity, one of the assailants shouted, 'I've come to take it out on you'.

More Detailed Health Update: Laboratory Tests and CAT Scan Show "Complex Picture"
On Tuesday evening, the Vatican press office provided the most detailed update yet on Francis' health:
- Laboratory tests, a chest X-ray and the clinical conditions continue to present a complex picture.
- The polymicrobial infection, which arose in a context of bronchiectasis and asthmatic bronchitis, and which required the use of cortisone and antibiotic therapy, makes the therapeutic treatment more complex.
- Francis underwent a CAT scan of his chest this afternoon, as prescribed by both the Vatican and the Gemelli health team. It showed the onset of bilateral pneumonia, which will require further medication.

Arson Attacks on Two Churches in Germany
An arsonist tried to set fire to two churches in Wurzen, east of Leipzig, on Sunday night.
A witness noticed the fire in a basement window of one church shortly after 1am and called the police. The first policemen to arrive doused the flames with water.
A short time later, a police patrol discovered a fire at the front door of another church. The fire was doused with a fire extinguisher. According to the police, the damage to the two churches totalled around 2,000 euros.
An arson investigation has been launched.
In recent weeks and months, graffiti has repeatedly appeared on churches in Wurzen. One scrawl reads: "Ban Eucharist and Yom Kippur. The earth is not a business, but our home. Sincerely, your children".

France: Rectory Robbed and Defecated On
A homeless Muslim immigrant from Algeria, aged around sixty, broke into the presbytery of Limay in the Yvelines on Sunday morning 9 February and locked himself in the priest's accommodation.
According to ValeursActuelles.com, the priest tried in vain to open the door with a crowbar, but he interrupted his work because he had to preside at the Eucharist at 11am.
When he returned, he saw that the door to the presbytery was open. Several items had been stolen: his telephone, his computer and his watch.
The priest also discovered several traces of faeces in his house. At 1.10 pm, he called the Mantes-la-Jolie judicial police.
The suspect had been occupying the courtyard of the presbytery for several days before being evicted from the place shortly before the incident.

The Incredible Story of Cistercian Abbey of Boulaur
Like almost all religious communities, the female Cistercian Abbey of Boulaur in France went through a very bad time after the Second Vatican Council.
In the 1980s, the convent was on the verge of being closed due to a lack of vocations. There were only five sisters left.
The Abbot General of the Cistercians visited Boulaur in June 1981 to decide whether to close the convent.
The prioress gave him a book about Claire de Castelbajac, who lived just 25 kilometres from the convent and who had died of meningoencephalitis in 1975 at the age of 21.
Claire was well known in the area. Her mother had even written a book about her.
The Abbot General was not enthusiastic about another pious book and reluctantly began to read it that evening. But Claire impressed him.

What's Wrong with Pope Francis' Left Eye?
Over the past few weeks, it has become apparent that Pope Francis is having difficulty opening his left eye.
His public appearances this week confirm that he must have some kind of problem with it - as can be seen in recent photographs - and that it does not allow him to open it fully.

Too Little Too Late, Vatican Objects To "Installation Ceremony" Of Chinese Bishop
Block in the Vatican-China relations: The Holy See objects in a Saturday statement "with surprise and regret" to the November 24 “installation ceremony” of Bishop John Peng Weizhao as Auxiliary Bishop of Yujiang Dicoese.
Yujiang Diocese is “not recognized” by the Holy See, “This event, in fact, did not take place in accordance with the spirit of dialogue that exists between the Vatican and Chinese sides.”
And, “What is more, the civil recognition of Bishop Peng was reportedly preceded by long and heavy pressure from local authorities.”
The Holy See hopes that similar episodes will not be repeated, waits for an appropriate communications on the matter, but still “reaffirms its full readiness to continue respectful dialogue.”

Bono Meets Someone Who Speaks Even More Gibberish Than He Does
Francis recognised during a May 19 meeting the international Foundation Scholas Occurentes – which is pro-gender-ideology and pro-Pachamama - as a Private Association of the Faithful.
The special guest for the event was Bono, 62, a member of the rock band U2 which is known to Francis’ generation.
Bono asked the meaningful question whether women play a "powerful" role in tackling the climate crisis. Francis responded confused that “in the common home, we usually speak of Mother Earth, not Father Earth. This is very clear. What Is Cardinal Zen Accused Of?
Cardinal Zen was arrested on May 11 because he was a trustee of the Hong Kong 612 Humanitarian Relief Fund which ceased operations in October 2021.
Three other trustees were also briefly held: the singer Denise Ho Wan-see, the scholar Hui Po-keung, the former MP Margaret Ng Ngoi-yee.
GlobalTimes.cn (May 12) writes that the fund is accused of "collusion with foreign forces" and supporting violent rioters in the 2019 Hongkong “colour revolution” in which according to independent media the CIA was heavily involved.
The arrest of the four topped the trending list on Sina Weibo with more than 160 million views as of Wednesday night.
Founded in June 2019, the fund offered money to those injured or arrested during the colour revolution. By May 2020, its income stood at over HKD140M (USD18M).
China suspects that the fund’s UK division served as a hub for colluding with foreign secret services. It is likely that Cardinal Zen was not aware of these implications. …

New Liturgy: Minister Presides over Suicide in Her Church
Betty Sanguin committed suicide by euthanasia in an “intimate ceremony” inside of the Protestant Churchill Park United Church in Winnipeg, Canada (March 9), according to a jubilant BroadView.org (April 29).
In spring 2021, the suicide was diagnosed with ALS after which she decided to kill herself expressing her wish that “the procedure” may happen at her church.
The church's leadership team unanimously approved the request. They called the evil deed a “crossing-over ceremony.”
The local minister Dawn Rolke offered a “blessing” expressing her belief that there was an “overwhelming presence of [evil] spirit during the ceremony.”

Kneeling Bishops: Francis Annoyed
Francis concluded his April 27 General Audience apologising that he was greeting individuals while being seated “because this knee of mine is not healing, and I cannot be standing for long periods of time.”
When bishops came to exchange some words, they knelt down next to him to make the conversation easier. Francis: Another No-Show
Despite being scheduled to do so, Francis didn't preside the Divine Mercy Sunday Eucharist at St. Peter's but left his place to Archbishop Fisichella.
Francis sat aside without liturgical vestments and read the homily. It was the same situation as during the Easter vigil Eucharist.
Allegedly, Francis suffers from "knee pain," but officially no reasons were given. In his homily, Francis claimed that priests can forgive sins "because they have been forgiven" - which is a wrong Pelagian position.

Mortal Smell of the Sheep: Franciscan Murdered
Brother Wilberth Daza Rodas, 44, was murdered after last Easter Vigil in the San Francisco Church in Santa Cruz de la Sierra, Bolivia, whose bursar he was.
He was a few years away from being ordained a priest. Wilberth’s brother told media that the victim’s body was dragged from one place to another after being beaten with a blunt object on his head and body, until he was left in the bathroom.
The police identified the killer as a certain Lucas, 22, a student, drug addict, and member of the parish who was expelled from a youth group for being undisciplined. He acted with the help of two accomplices.
