Francis Appoints Cleric Hiding in Civilian Clothes as Archbishop of Florence
Francis has accepted the resignation of Cardinal Giuseppe Betori (77) as Archbishop of Florence on April 18 and named Gherardo Gambelli (54) as his successor.
Gambelli was a missionary in Chad from 2011 until his return to Florence in 2023.
When the appointment was announced, Gambelli appeared in a casual look, wearing a light blue collared shirt, knit sweater and quilted jacket. The reasons why he hides the fact that he is a priest, are unknown.

Pope Francis offered that praise of his predecessor, Pope St. Pius X (1903-1914), in a preface he wrote for a new book entitled “Tribute to Pius X. Contemporary Portraits”.
The book was written by Fr. Lucio Bonora, a priest from the Italian city of Treviso—the birthplace of Pius X—and an official at the Vatican Secretariat of State.

In his preface released on Wednesday, Pope Francis said he holds the late Pope in high esteem, recalling that he would meet yearly with catechists of the Archdiocese of Buenos Aires on his feastday, August 21.
“I enjoyed spending time with those dedicated to instructing children and adults in the truths of the faith,” he said, “and Pius X has always been known as the Pope of catechesis.”

MarcoTosatti.com (February 15) reports the claim of a “very high” Vatican prelate, likely a cardinal, that Joseph Ratzinger feels he is "Pope" and "not retired."
He published the Ratzinger/Sarah book to make this manifest, the source insists.
According to the prelate, Francis understood this and "got scared,” which caused him to change the text of “Querida Amazonia.”
The problem: Ratzinger keeps vigorously contradicting such claims.

Cardinal: “No Faith Left In Rome”
In the current situation “there is no faith left in Rome”, said an anonymous cardinal to Michael Voris who at the moment is in Rome (Twitter, October 2).
Voris specifies that this was not Cardinal Raymond Burke.
Twitter Users suggest the cardinals Sarah, Müller and Brandmüller, however, it could also have been the cardinals Arinze, Harvey, or O'Brien.

The Copts are formally schismatics and heretics, still suspected to adhere to Monophysitism, a heresy that denies the two natures in Christ.
Last year Pope Francis allowed an Anglican Vespers service (“Evensong”) in St. Peter’s Basilica.
Such events lead Catholics into believing that it doesn’t matter whether one is Catholic, Coptic or Anglican etc.
Nevertheless, it would be unthinkable that a Pontifical High Mass according to the authentic Roman Rite would be celebrated in a Roman basilica.

Cardinal Dissolves the Sacrament of Orders
In a recently published book liberal Cardinal Francesco Coccopalmerio, president of the Pontifical Council for Legislative Texts, claims that the Anglican orders are not invalid, writes The Tablet.
Coccopalmerio contradicts Leo XIII's bull Apostolicae curae (1896), which declares that they are “absolutely null and utterly void”.
Coccopalmerio instead claims: “We have had, and we still have a very rigid understanding of validity and invalidity: this is valid, and that is not valid. One should be able to say: ‘this is valid in a certain context, and that is valid in another context'.” These words imply that the sacrament of ordination has no value in itself, and amount to a denial of this sacrament.
