In San Pietro: Card. Simoni went straight at the devil

During the Mass at San Pietro, I sat right behind Ernest Card. Simoni. 97 years old, Albanian, tortured, imprisoned to do forced labor, sentenced to death. At the end of Mass he went to the ambo and recited the long St. Michael Prayer as an exorcism Specifically… exorcism.
The only things that would have made it better would be a) had it been done before Mass and b) had it been done by every priest in the place.
Card. Simoni went straight at the devil.
The Basilica itself has needed rites of exorcism for a long time.

Ernest Cardinal Simoni, a 97-year-old Albanian who decades ago was tortured, imprisoned, and sentenced to death, at the end of Mass at St. Peter's yesterday went to the ambo and intentionally performed an exorcism by reciting the long St. Michael Prayer. As Fr. Z comments, St. Peter's has needed that exorcism for a long while, given Pachamama, the two desecrations of the high altar, and the recent LGBTQ+ invasion, not to mention other violations. Thanks be to God for this bold intervention from a true confessor of the Faith.

July 16, 1918 murder by the Bolsheviks

THE EXECUTION OF THE ROMANOVS AND CZECHOSLOVAK CONNECTION
On the night of July 16, 1918, Russian ex-Czar Nicholas and his wife and five children were executed in a basement by the Bolsheviks. They were brutally executed by gunfire then bayoneted and shot again. Their bodies were buried in the nearby forest and grenades were used to erase any trace of them.
It is said that that the monarch (and family) had been executed on the order of Uralispolkom (Ural Executive Committee Soviet) under pressure posed by the approach of the Czechoslovaks, whom they feared would free him.
By June 1918, the Czechoslovak Legion, sided with the counter-revolutionary White Army, in the Russian Civil War. The army was steadily approaching Yekaterinburg, near where the family was imprisoned at the house in Ekaterinburg, and they feared that these forces were on a rescue mission for the Romanovs. Later that month the decision was made to execute the family.
It is true that there was a connection between the …More

SSPX Supports Vatican Charge that Archbishop Viganò is “Schismatic”

SSPX Supports Vatican Charge that Archbishop Viganò is “Schismatic”
David Martin | The Daily Knight
On June 24, the Society of St. Pius X founded by the late Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre issued a statement declaring Archbishop Carlo Maria Viganò to be “sedevacantist” because he denies the legitimacy of Pope Francis.
This is hypocritical. Why is it perfectly fine for SSPX members to reject Francis' legitimacy and a crime for Viganò to do the same? Is the SSPX envious of Vigano’s traditionality? Their statement attempts to differentiate Viganò from Lefebvre when in fact there is no essential difference between them.
The statement says:
“There is, however, one point which significantly differentiates him from the founder of the Society of Saint Pius X: Archbishop Viganò makes a clear declaration of Sedevacantism in his text. In other words, according to him, Pope Francis is not pope.”
Since when did Archbishop Viganò declare that all the popes since 1958 were antipopes?Sedevacantism …

Dec. 6 The Feast of Saint Nicholas

“He sees you when you're sleeping, he knows when you’re awake. He knows when you’re a heretic, and he’ll punch you in the face!”
Legend has it Saint Nicholas, Bishop of Myra (who is said to be the inspiration for Santa Claus), struck Arius the heretic for denying the eternality of Christ and triune nature of God during his speech at the Council of Nicea in AD 325.
Moral of the story... Don't dabble in false doctrine around Saint Nicholas.
Deck the halls, and heretics too.

98 years ago - the Internation Eucharistic Congress was held in Chicago, Illinois from June 20 to 24, 1926 with over a million Catholics in attendance. More than 3,000 priests were called in to hear confessions, and more than 60,000 Catholic schoolchildren — the New World (Catholic newspaper) called it “the world’s largest choir” — sang at the Soldier Field Mass on June 21. Sisters of various orders were called upon to make 4.5 million hosts for use at Masses during the congress, as well as 90,000 large hosts.

XXVIII International Eucharistic Congress - When 800,000 People Prayed at Mundelein - University of Saint Mary of the Lake/Mundelein Seminary

On June 24, 1926, more than 800,000 people participated in the closing ceremonies of the 28th International Eucharistic Congress in Mundelein, the “largest religious meeting in the history of the Catholic Church in America.” George Cardinal Mundelein, the Archbishop of Chicago, had sent a message to Pope Pius XI, asking for the Congress to be held in Chicago, promising “a million communions as a spiritual bouquet to your august presence.”
Chicago was the first American city to host the International Eucharistic Congress, which celebrates the importance of the Eucharist in the lives of Catholics. The public Congress was not merely intended to create a sense of pride for the Roman Catholic people of the Chicago area, but also to gather people from all over the world to place Chicago on the international stage. This International Eucharistic Congress, along with the World’s Fairs of 1893 and 1933-34, are the three events that put Chicago “on the map” in its early life. This was especially …
