There are 22,193,347 "Catholics" in Germany, which corresponds to 26.7% of the population.
The data refers to the year 2020 and appeared in statistics published by the German Bishops' Conference.
The "Catholics" are served by 12,565 priests (2019: 12,983). In 2020, there were only 67 priestly ordinations (56: diocesan priests; 11: religious priests).
Attendance at religious services fell to 5.9% (2019: 9.1%), as did the number of marriages (11,018; 2019: 38,537), baptisms (104,610; 2019: 159,043), first communions (139,752; 2019: 166,481). 221,390 persons left the Church (2019: 272,771). In contrast, burials increased by 2,609 to 236,546.

Aug 2 (Reuters) - The District of Columbia's police department on Monday said two more police officers who responded to the Jan. 6 riot at the U.S. Capitol have died by suicide, bringing to four the number of known suicides by officers who guarded the building that day.
Metropolitan Police Officer Gunther Hashida was found dead in his home Thursday, department spokesman Hugh Carew said in a statement.
Hashida joined the District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) in May 2003.
Another MPD officer who responded to the Capitol on Jan. 6, Kyle DeFreytag, was found dead on July 10, Carew said. DeFreytag’s cause of death …reuters.com

Erzbischof Salvatore Cordileone von San Francisco hat eine monatliche Römische Messe in seiner Kathedrale eingeführt. Sie wird jeden ersten Mittwoch im Monat um 15 Uhr zelebriert.
Die erste dieser Messen fällt auf das Fest des Heiligen Dominikus (4. August) und wird im dominikanischen Ritus gefeiert.
Die Einführung der Messe ist eine Reaktion auf "Anfragen der Gläubigen" (= pastorale Gründe) und die "überwältigende Resonanz" auf eine erste Römische Messe, die im Juli in der Kathedrale zelebriert wurde.

Franziskus segnet Medjugorje-Festival - Kardinal Sarah ruft "Muttergottes von Medjugorje" an
Das Jugendfestival in Medjugorje, Bosnien, hat "die Kraft, uns zum Herrn zu führen". Das meinte Franziskus in einem auf dem Festival (31. Juli bis 6. August) verlesenen Grußwort.
Franziskus, der selbst den Pachamama-Götzen fördert, forderte die Jugendlichen auf, „frei von Götzen“ zu leben.
Das Grußwort handelt vom reichen Jüngling in Matthäus 19, wobei Franziskus vor allem auf Emotionen setzte, zum Beispiel auf den "zärtlichen Blick" Christi, seine "Zärtlichkeit" und "Zuneigung" für den jungen Mann - während Franziskus selbst Tyrannei und Grausamkeit bevorzugt.
Kardinal Robert Sarah zelebrierte gestern die Sonntagsmesse des Festivals. Er sprach in seiner Predigt über das stärker werdende Heidentum, während in der Kirche "nur noch wenig Kraft" vorhanden sei.

Authoritarian Cardinal Reiterates His Ban On Roman Mass
Washington Cardinal Gregory reaffirmed in a July 30 letter his decision to prohibit an already approved August 14 Roman Mass scheduled at the National Shrine with Archbishop Thomas Gullickson.
The organiser and funder of this Mass, the Paulus Institute, asked Gregory in a July 29 letter to rethink his prohibition.
An authoritarian Gregory replied that he allegedly has the “exclusive competence” to authorise Latin Masses according to the 1962 Roman Missal. The August 14 Mass “may be celebrated in Latin according to the Roman Missal promulgated by Saint Paul VI and revised by Saint John Paul II” - as if "Latin" were the problem.
Gregory feigned “regret” that his decision “has been a source of disappointment.” He is more accommodating towards pro-death politicians or homosex priests. In 2018 he “personally” invited the homosex activist James Martin to speak on homosex Jesuit ministry.

[Q.] So the main reason [for Traditionis custodes] is doctrinal?
[A.] Yes, and it is very important to say this and to be aware of it because, paradoxically, this is all very providential. It is of course very painful. It will hinder the diffusion of the traditional Mass. It will start new persecutions. But, on the other hand, it puts the finger on what hurts, namely the doctrinal status of Vatican II, which has never been settled.

[Q.] We come back to the fact that all experiments are permitted, including blessings of homosexual couples (forbidden by the Church), except "the experiment of Tradition", according to the expression of Archbishop Lefebvre...
[A.] Everything is allowed, any heresy can be professed by men of the Church , who still get to keep their Catholic "identity card" - except those who celebrate or attend the traditional Mass. No, they are accused by the Pope himself of tearing apart the unity of the Church.
[Q.] So, the bottom line is that this hatred of the traditional Mass has a doctrinal basis?
[A.] Absolutely. It is the hatred of the Tridentine ecclesiology, of all that this Mass represents from the point of view of Eucharistic doctrine as well as the doctrine of the Church.
