So what? If they merely "identify" and don't believe or live it, it is utterly meaningless. If it is just shallow and cultural, it is useless. People identify as other genders when in physical reality, they are male or female. I may eat ants and call myself an ardvaark, or put antlers on my head and call myself an elk. I am still a human. What people CHOOSE to call themselves does nothing for the reality of what they are. I may identify as a Christian, but it could be entirely cultural. I may not go to Sunday services, read the Bible, or know anything about the faith.
I am dismayed at those seem to support Trump because the enemy of my enemy is my friend. I think Trump is a chastisement from God, but a lesser one than Hilary Clinton. He has no principles, no ideology, no consistency, no prudence--there's not "there" there. He stands for his holy trinity: "Me, myself, and I." As Scripture warns us, "Put not your trust in princes!"
Not so shocking; look at the denominations represented: United Church of Christ, Episcopal, other mainline American denominations. Usually theologically and politically liberal.
If a faithful catholic can be so easily led away, they weren't that faithful. The shepherds are to blame for neglecting the sheep, and the sheep are to be blamed for not educating themselves. At the very least, they keep Christianity. I must say, I get annoyed when people accuse others of sheepstealing. The protestants have made inroads into So. America because of the neglect of Catholic leaders. Thank God at least they are still Christian.
How do we distinguish hanging out with sinners as JC did (with sinners and tax collectors), without seeming to accept their behavior as is? I fear that some of these folk who want to welcome sinners have not the least plan or intent for encouraging them to a better way of life. Whether intentionally or not, it seems they implicitly or worse, explicitly condone or even pronounce as good the sin.
