Bishops' Conference Condemns Massive Liturgical Abuses
The Nigerian Bishops’ Conference has observed "an alarming increase in aberrations" in the liturgy throughout the country. In a document released on August 15 on NigeriaCatholicNetwork.com, they acknowledge that the perpetrators are "some of our own priests".
The abuses and "grave violations" include:
- Deviations from the prescribed prayers and rubrics of the Mass, including the Eucharistic Prayer.
- Disrespectful handling of the Eucharist.
- Walking down the aisle while carrying the monstrance during the exposition of the Blessed Sacrament and blessing the people with gestures resembling the sprinkling of Holy Water.
- Inappropriate music, including the introduction of secular music into the liturgy.
- Inappropriate dancing, even with the monstrance containing the Eucharist.
- Commercialization of the liturgy in the form of taking up too many collections and fundraising right in the midst of liturgical celebrations.
- The use of …More
"That the altar is not a stage for theatrics, nor is the liturgy a venue for novelty." Bishops remind the priests?? Liturgical creativity is something that is encouraged by the bishops. Remember, when the Pope was a bishop of Argentina and his Tango masses.
V2 made all this garbage happen when it stated that inculturation must be followed. Most of this stuff is PAGAN pure and simple.
