Argentine Archdiocese "Investigates" Transvestite Marriage After Public Scandal
The couple consists of "Solange" Ayala, a biological male who presents as female, and "Isaías", a biological female who presents as male. Both individuals are homosexual activists.
Ayala told local media that the priest had consulted Archbishop José Adolfo Larregain. He reportedly indicated that there was no canonical impediment to the marriage based on the couple’s biological sex.
After the case became an international scandal, Archbishop Larregain announced that he had initiated a "canonical investigation". He wants to review the facts and assess possible disciplinary sanctions against those responsible for authorizing or celebrating the ceremony.
He claimed that the necessary ecclesiastical documentation had not been received by the archdiocesan offices.
The statement warned that the omission of essential canonical conditions “distorts the profound meaning of the sacrament” and creates “confusion among the faithful.”
Despite words, the announced "canonical investigation" and "possible disciplinary sanctions" are only a red herring. Nothing will happen.
