Putin and the Pope on the Phone
President Putin and Pope Leo XIV have spoken on the phone this afternoon. According to Italian media reports, Putin was the caller. He confirmed Russia's interest in achieving peace through political and diplomatic means. Putin expressed gratitude for the peace efforts of the Holy See.
He accused the Ukrainian government of escalating the conflict by targeting civilian infrastructure, what he called "terrorism".
He emphasised the need to address the 'root causes' of the conflict, including Ukraine's neutrality and concerns over NATO's eastward expansion.
This was the first direct communication since the election of Pope Leo XIV. The last conversation with Francis was on 17 December 2021, when President Putin wished him a happy birthday.
The Vatican confirmed the call at 9 p.m.: "During the phone call, in addition to matters of mutual interest, special attention was paid to the situation in Ukraine and to peace. The Pope made an appeal for Russia to make a gesture favoring peace, stressed …More
Just as the dangers of expansion of the war in Ukraine seemed to reach a new pitch, Pope Leo XIV, 69, and Russia’s President Vladimir Putin, 72, had their first phone call ever yesterday, June 4, in the afternoon.

Vatican says Pope Leo XIV had a telephone conversation with Russian President Vladimir Putin. The pope "made an appeal for Russia to make a gesture that would favor peace, and stressed the importance of dialogue for the realization of positive contacts between the parties and to seek solutions to the conflict."

If the Pope wants peace, All he has to do is consecrate Russia like Our Lady asked for 100 years ago. Is it that bloody difficult??
Cue the Garabandal "It's Happening!" YouTube videos.
Thank GOD! This means soon, this Pope will consecrate Russia to The Immaculate Heart of Mary. It is said, about 1 1/2 years into the war it will be done! I just read this awhile ago from RT. I missed the part of Leo going to Russia though.
Putin holds phone call with Pope
I've heard various people try to take a broader definition of "going to Russia." Some counted the time when Pope Francis visited the Russian embassy in Rome.
