Author Matt Ridley has revealed an extraordinary conversation he says he had with a senior UK scientist. According to Ridley, the scientist told him: "It's very important we never find out." When Ridley asked why, he says the answer was: "Because it would disrupt relations with China... You're probably right, it probably did come out of a lab, but it's better we don't find out." Ridley's response cuts to the heart of the issue: When a plane crashes, the world investigates. The findings are shared globally so future disasters can be prevented.
