The journey begun in Assisi in 1986 is “first and foremost the path of prayer”, Pope Leo XIV said in his video message to the Assisi peace meeting on its 40th anniversary.
Leo XIV offered a questionable definition of prayer as “a school of dialogue with God, with people and with all creatures”.
His message is constructed largely through quotations from John Paul II, Francis and himself.
He believes that the “spirit of Assisi” must help build peace [without Christ].
Leo XIV added: “The path of Assisi calls religious leaders to foster a climate of dialogue amongst the faithful and within society, so that the language of arrogance may give way to the language of peace, negotiation and understanding.”
