--something contradicted by the Cardinals themselves, including his fiercest critics and also by Pope Emeritus Benedict.

Cardinal Bergoglio is still a cardinal having failed to succeed to the Chair of St Peter which remains occupied by the now "effectively imprisoned" pope Benedict xvi.
As a formally heretical cardinal who has published formally heretical opinions and ideas Bergoglio is excommunicated from the catholic church.
He has no ecclesiastical authority whatsoever so can be safely and entirely IGNORED.
