Francis’ Vatican: Italian Secret Service Is Called in Because Of Mutual Distrust

The Vatican’s Deputy Secretary of State, Edgar Peña Parra, engaged the Italian secret services to check his offices for bugging devices, Panorama.it (February 9) wrote.

Convinced of being spied on and not trusting the Vatican police, Peña asked Vincenzo Mauriello, a Vatican official, in May 2019 whether he knew someone to check his offices because confidential talks were known outside after a short time.

Days later, a specialist of the Secret Services arrived but didn’t find anything. However, Peña was given a white envelope which contained information Peña had requested about certain individuals.
