FSSPX: State of Necessity is More Evident in 2026 than 1988

- The reason behind the decision to proceed with episcopal consecrations is the salvation of souls. This should not be seen as mere rhetoric or a simple canonical justification.

- We must love the Church, even if its official representatives were to declare us excommunicated and schismatic once again.

- We must never succumb to bitterness.

- We must remember that if Divine Providence grants us the grace to preserve and defend the Church’s Traditions, it is an exceptional mercy we do not deserve, and this awareness must shape our attitude entirely.

- We take exceptional measures to preserve the faith, the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, and the priesthood so that the whole Church and every soul may one day freely benefit from them. They belong to the Church; we are only their guardians.

- If we are declared excommunicated or schismatic, it would not mean we seek or rejoice in such an unjust sanction. One may accept humiliation offered to God, but not rejoice in an objective injustice that scandalizes the Church.

The Superior General of the SSPX has defended the Society’s decision to consecrate bishops this summer, arguing that the “state of necessity” first invoked by Archbishop Marcel Lefebvre in 1988 is now “even more evident in 2026”. Fr Davide Pagliarani also warned that any declaration of excommunication or schism against the Society “would be objectively unjust”.

I think at this point if Catholics don't understand the "State of Necessity," then only a miracle in the form of a divine chastisement will open their eyes. Our Lady of Fatima, warned us of the "Errors of Russia," and the consequences of rejecting Her warning. The "State of Necessity," is the result of the "Errors of Russia!"

Very few (Vigano), have call it, not even the FSSPX has the courage to call them that in public.

The Church certainly is much worse off today than it was in 1988. No one with a logical mind can deny this fact.
