Pope Francis' Chief Ideologist: Reject New US Ambassador!
Burch is the president of Catholic Vote. He has been a vocal critic of Francis' abuse of power. Some quotes:
1. On the Pope's treatment of critics: "The pattern of vindictiveness and punishment seems at odds with what [Pope Francis] says about being an instrument of mercy and accompaniment."
2. On Francis's 2015 [stupid] comment that Catholics need not "breed like rabbits", Burch said that this statement had offended the Catholic faithful.
3. Burch criticised Francis' approval of blessings for homosexual fornication, saying it had caused "massive confusion" about Catholic teaching on marriage and sexuality.
4. On the future of the papacy: Burch suggested that Francis won't be pope for much longer and that the next pope will need to dispel the disillusionment created and return the Church to its Catholic role as a "voice of moral clarity".
Austin Ivereigh was a spokesman for Archbishop Murphy O'Connor, one of the cardinals who campaigned for the election of Jorge Mario Bergoglio.
After his election, Francis called Cardinal Müller, while the prelate was presiding at a Eucharist for his former students, to block an ongoing Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith investigation into Cardinal Murphy O'Connor for covering up homosexual abuse.
