Why the Consistory Is Officially Just Another Synodal Dumpster Fire

The Vatican is probably the last place the faithful should be looking for pastors. And just like that, Trad, Inc., conservative Catholics, and the EWTN crowd saw their hopes dashed. The extraordinary consistory of January 2026 was presented—at least by the Trad, Inc. commentariat—as the event that might mark the beginning of the liberation of the Traditional Latin Mass. Instead, Prevost and his merry crew of heretics doubled down on their new religion. Right out of the gate, Pope Leo XIV announced that he “really” wants to implement Vatican II this time around. Or something. This sounds eerily similar to people who insist that if we just do Communism properly this time, it will finally work. (Insert facepalm here.)
