Sister Adriana (Gil Altares) left the convent of Nuestra Señora de Bretonera in Belorado, Diocese of Burgos, a fortnight ago.
She is the second nun to leave the Poor Clare Sisters of Belorado, who in May 2024 broke away from the Diocese of Burgos, Spain, and took up a sedevacantist position.
"She is with her family" and "psychologically stable", writes LibertadDigital.com (5 November). She did not accept the "economic excesses" of the prioress and was "fed up with everything".
Sister Adriana always had differences with the Prioress, especially when it came to certain economic decisions.
She worked "from sunrise to sunset", in the vegetable garden and with the animals. She also went to the markets on Thursdays and Saturdays to sell products from the monastery.
For this reason, she did not accept that the Prioress spent money as if she were a multinational company.
When the accounts were audited by the diocese, they amounted to barely 6,000 euros.
Another nun, Sister Paz (Roca Peinado), left the convent in August. Until then she had been vicar of the convent and part of the hard core of the leadership.
Twelve of the sixteen nuns who lived in the convent before the crisis now remain there.
In August, the sisters of Belorado have found a new sedevacantist bishop.
A certain Bishop Rojas and his assistant Ceacero have been replaced by a certain Bishop Rodrigo Henrique Ribeiro da Silva, the founder of the Society of St Joseph.
Ribeiro da Silva was accompanied by Jesús Casas Silva, an Argentinean sedevacantist priest who is considered by many to be the nuns' chaplain.
Born on 18 February 1991 in Recife-Pernambuco (Brazil), Rodrigo Henrique Ribeiro da Silva was ordained a priest by Bishop Richard Williamson for the Priestly Society of Saint Pius X, from which he was later expelled.
