Why Is Cardinal Njue Not Present at the Conclave?

Cardinal John Njue, 79, the Archbishop Emeritus of Nairobi, Kenya, was one of two prelates, along with Cardinal Antonio Cañizares Llovera, who would not be attending the conclave for health reasons.
Last Friday, the Director of the Holy See Press Office, Matteo Bruni, made a statement to this effect.
On 5 May, however, Njue gave an interview to the Kenyan newspaper The Daily Nation in which he denied this version.
"Those who go to Rome for the Conclave usually receive official invitations, but this never happened to me". He insisted that he "did not know the real reason" and that "it is difficult to comment on the matter".
In short, Njue is angry and does not hide it. He belongs to the Catholic wing.
The matter became even more mysterious after Archbishop Philip Anyolo of Nairobi issued a statement saying that the official invitation from the Apostolic Nunciature in Kenya had arrived, but that Njue was unable to travel to Rome because of his current state of health.
