Cardinal Defends Maya Eucharist: "Christ Did Not Celebrate the Latin Mass"
He has read many criticisms online and has also received personal reactions that a pagan cult and diabolic worship is being introduced into the Eucharist.
The cardinal accuses the critics of "ignorance of the liturgy and the millennial culture of these indigenous peoples": "There is nothing pagan or contrary to the Catholic faith in the approved adaptations".
The Cardinal demonstrates his total ignorance of the liturgy: "Traditionalists would like nothing to be changed in the Mass and to keep the Roman Rite as it was before the Second Vatican Council. But neither Jesus nor the Apostles celebrated with the Tridentine Missal. It is only from the XVI century".
In fact, the Roman Rite is practically unchanged since Gregory the Great, +604, and there are patristic indications that it goes back much further.
For the Cardinal, the Last Supper, which was the Old Testament Passover, is "the best example of inculturation with Jewish ritual signs" - which is nonsense.
He doesn't notice that his cheap polemics against the Holy Mass can be used in the same way against the 'Mayan Rite'.
