Vatican Council II has a reality of its own. We affirm Ad Gentes 7 (all need faith and baptism for salvation) and then point out that Lumen Gentium 16 is not an exception for AG 7.
We cannot first, affirm LG 16 and then suggest that LG 16 etc are physically visible cases of known persons saved outside the Catholic Church, without faith and baptism, in the present times.This would be irrational and it would be confusing.
In inter-religious dialogue the blue passages dominate and the red passages are not explicit exceptions for AG 7.
Pope Leo cannot cite LG 16 etc as the norm for salvation or an exception for AG 7 and the dogma EENS. This would be irrational.
In Collegiality, for all, the blue passages dominate and the red are not exceptions. So we have unity. There is no liberal-traditionalist division since the Council and Catechism are no more liberal.
In traditional mission; ecclesiocentric mission like in the Middle Ages, the blue passages in Vatican Council II dominate and the red are not exceptions.
For the Proclamation of the Social Reign of Christ the King in all political legislation, the blue passages dominate and the red are not objective exceptions. for the blue. They not even relevant any more.
It is necessary to be a Catholic for salvation from Hell and so the government too must be Roman Catholic ( Quas Primas). The Early Church was Catholic. The Church Fathers were Catholic. The Bible comes to us from the Catholic Church. You are either Catholic or you are damned to Hell at the time of death on earth.
In a Catholic State the blue passages dominate and the red are not exceptions.
The blue passages in Vatican Council II are in harmony with the ecclesiology of the Papal States in Europe and the Austro Hungarian Catholic Empire.
We no more separate Vatican Council II from Sacred Tradition. Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church are ecclesiocentric and in harmony with the missionaries and magisterium of the 16th century on extra ecclesiam nulla salus (Council of Florence 1442).
At the Novus Ordo Mass, the Syro Malabar Rite or the Amazon Rite, with Vatican Council II, we have the same lex orandi as the Latin Mass in the Middle Ages. The same ecclesiology as St. Ignatius of Loyola. At the Syro Malabar Rite Mass in Rome too, for example, with Vatican Council II and the Catechism of the Catholic Church they are saying outside the Catholic Church there is no salvation (AG 7, CCC 845,846)
We have the same passages in Vatican Council II before us and this is a particular reality expressed. We know there are no exceptions mentioned in the Council-text for Tradition and there are none known in real life.This is a reality. It determines our theology.
There is nothing in Nostra Aetate, Lumen Gentium, Unitatis Redintigratio, Gaudium et Specs etc, to contradict Ad Gentes 7.
There are good and holy things in other religions but the religions are not paths to salvation. All need faith and baptism for salvation. So if anyone is saved in another religion it would be known only to God.It would not contradict Ad Gentes 7 in 2026.The norm for salvation is faith and baptism ( AG 7) and not LG 16 .-Lionel Andrades
