Maria Elena Bergoglio, 77, the sister of Pope Francis, has arrived in Rome in recent days, reports Cesare Sacchetti (LaCrunaDellAgo.net) on X.com (27 February), citing sources at Rome's Fiumicino airport.
He adds that a number of cardinals, diplomats and Swiss Guards arrived on the same day as Maria Elena Bergoglio. One wonders, however, where the "Swiss Guards" arrived from.
This seems to be the first time Maria Elena has visited her brother since he became Pope. Supposedly she didn't want to make the trip because of her own poor health, which seems a rather unlikely explanation.
There have been no photographs of Francis since 14 February, and today's Angelus will be the third in written form.
Meanwhile, the Vatican press office claims that Francis - despite his pneumonia, sepsis, kidney failure and bronchial aspiration - spends his days sitting in an armchair, drinking coffee, reading newspapers and talking to the parish priest in Gaza.
