Medjugorje No Hoax

Jumping to a wrong conclusion…
Not so long ago – a few weeks – many critics of the Medjugorje phenomenon were expressing delight with a couple of reports from the direction of Rome which they sensed would shut down the Medjugorje movement which has grown and spread throughout the world these past 32 years.
In their zeal and lack of understanding of what was really taking place, in their stubborn refusal to want to recognise the spiritual fruits so apparent, they misread and mistook the reports as a ‘sign’ the end was nigh for Medjugorje.
But in reality, one of communications – a notice sent to U.S. bishops by a papal nuncio – was only confirming the Church’s current position, stated as far back as 1991. The other item of ‘news’ was a reference made by Pope Francis during a homily and attributed by many bloggers and journalists as a caution against the Medjugorje messages when it clearly was not.
Yet despite the negative reporting and certainty by some critics that the ‘scam’ would soon screech to a halt, the apparitions continued; also the messages, the pilgrimages, the conversions, the miracles, the witnessing, the trials and all the other special graces associated with the phenomenon, .
But the critics preferred not to waste time and energy reporting the positives – the good news – and chose instead to campaign against the phenomenon by twirling the facts to suit their own mistaken belief and agenda. Blogs and websites proclaimed a variety of ‘game-over’ headlines:

And so today, a reliable source close to the Vatican, biographer Andreas Tornielli, reveals that the international commission set up by Benedict XVI almost four years ago to study the Medjugorje phenomenon has concluded:
NO HOAX, NO DECEPTION, NO SCAM.
Tornielli went on to say in his report: “Some of the Commission’s members have highlighted the need for a change of pace in the provision of pastoral care to millions of faithful who come to Medjugorje from all over the world. The Commission and Cardinal Ruini himself, thanks to visits by people close to him, have noticed that people really are converting to the faith or returning to the sacraments – what the Church refers to as spiritual fruits – in a significant way.”
