Carney's comments were to respond to American President Donald Trump who said at the World Economic Forum that without the United States, Canada would not exist. Carney should be grateful.
While former PM Justin Trudeau spoke of Canada being a post-nation state with no core-values, Carney is trying hard to make it clear that Canada is built on the principles of multiculturalism and openness.
