Such a comment is not only unpardonably stupid it is anti-Catholic. In fact, Re is saying if the pope is going to hell, we are obligated to follow him. This sounds like hero worship of a 12 year old boy.
By the way, when I was in Rome, I was told that at a meeting Cardinal Ratzinger was saying how bad the situation was with the Church in Germany. Cardinal Re then suggested he was exaggerating, during which Card R was rolling his eyes. This was told to me by someone who had been at the meeting.
All this goes a long way in showing why the Church is in such a mess.
I'm sorry, but if the good Archbishop genuinely doesn't believe Leo is a validly, juridically, legitimately elected Supreme Pontiff - as he has so loudly, publicly and vociferously proclaimed - then why does he so fervently and persistently seek an "Audience" with him?
@Mike the Pike What you've said makes no sense whatsoever. The Archbishop didn't seek a Private Audience with an "office." He sought an Audience with the person recognized as the reigning Vicar of Christ and Successor of Saint Peter. The question remains why would he do so if he did not believe that person to be whom the College of Cardinals elected him to be and whom the Church says that he is.
