Sicilian Bishops Met With Homosexual Pressure Groups
The meeting was part of the bishopsâ winter session (January 12â14) in Palermo, under the presidency of Archbishop Antonino Raspanti.
The groups themselves had requested the meeting, which was framed within the Synodal Path of the Church in Italy.
The representatives spoke of suffering caused by what they described as closed doors or indifference within the parishes.
They asked to be "accompanied" in their spiritual journey and presented the history and activities of their groups.
In their official communiquĂŠ, the bishops stated that âevery person [except Catholics] must be welcomed and respected in his or her dignity.â They further expressed hope that âthe presence of LGBT Christians could reopen doors,â adding that wounds can be transformed into âopenings of light.â
Each bishop received a propaganda booklet. The meeting was covered by national media and described by pro-homosexual activists as historic.
The encounter was linked to the homosex document of the Italian Synod, Lievito di pace e di speranza, approved on October 25, 2025.
