Abbott March 2, 2022 March 4, 2022 marks the 24th anniversary of the unsolved murder of Father Alfred Kunz, a priest and canon law expert known for celebrating the Traditional Latin Mass in the Diocese of Madison, Wisconsin. It’s a case I’ve been following and writing about for a number of years. (It will be featured in a show being produced by HLN-CNN for which I and others were interviewed last year. To my knowledge, no air date for the show has been announced.) On the morning of March 4, 1998, Kunz’s body was found in the hallway of St. Michael parish school – located in the tiny rural village of Dane – by a teacher arriving for work. Kunz’s throat had been cut and he had been left to bleed out. He also had defensive wounds on his hands from a struggle with the killer.
